Are you using Facebook Groups to build your audience?
If so, did you know that you can build your email list within your groups?
In today's post I'll share with you 2 simple tips how to do this WITHOUT using a lead capture page!
You MUST Build Your Email List
Your email list is the #1 asset you need to build in your business.
The list of 100 people your upline sponsor told you to make out is NOT your list.
Your Facebook followers, friends, FB group members are NOT your list.
As a matter of fact, your Facebook followers, friends, and group members belong to Facebook!
You gotta play by Facebook rules, and they are shutting down accounts left and right if they don't like something you say, even if it's an emoji.
As a matter of fact, I had a good friend of mine who is an internet marketer who wound up having his Facebook account shut down for 30 days where he couldn't post anywhere, including his Facebook group!
Why?
Because he used a sheep emoji to reply to a comment on Facebook!
Look, if Facebook can shut down the social media account of the President of the United States, they can do it to you too.
Could your Facebook group survive if you were shut down for 30 days?
That's why you need to have an email list.
And fortunately you can do this in 2 ways leveraging your Facebook group.
Tip #1: Ask for Their Email When They Join Your Group
The first tip is build your email list is to ask for new members to leave their email address before they join your group.
Here's how you do it.
Did you know that you can ask people questions before they can be accepted into your Facebook group?
Facebook allows you to set up questions prior to people joining.
People have to answer those questions before you accept them into the group.
One of the questions you can ask them is: "I am putting together an email newsletter for us to stay in contact in case Facebook goes down. What's your best email address?"
Now it's super important that you get their email address before you accept them into your group.
Once you accept them into your group you won't be able to see their email address.
I suggest that you create a spreadsheet to collect the names and email addresses prior to accepting them into your group.
Step #2: How to Add Current FB Group Members
Now you're probably saying "Doc, I built my group before I created those questions! How do I add those people?"
No problemo...
All you need to do is create an announcement post - that's a post you pin to the top of the Facebook group that everyone sees.
You then say "I am putting an email newsletter together for us to stay in contact in case Facebook goes down. If you want to be on the list private message me your email address."
It's very important that you have your members private message you their email addresses.
Otherwise, other members may take those email addresses and start spamming other members to their email list.
Remember, email marketing is PERMISSION based.
This will save you a lot of headaches and other members complaining to you about this.
You want people's permission for you to send them emails.
How to Build Your Email List WITHOUT a Website
Now that you have your FB group members email addresses, what's the next step?
I'm glad you asked.
You're going to manually add them to your autoresponder.
I find this easier than sending them to a standard lead capture page link.
If you're sending them to a lead capture page link, many won't click on it.
Plus, you don't want to give your members an added step to do.
It's very easy to add people to your email list.
If you use Aweber (which I HIGHLY recommend) you can add people to your email list through the Aweber Atom app on your phone, or via in your Aweber back office.
I created a short video for you where I walk you through how to walk through how to manually add subscribers through your Aweber back office.
