Today I'm going to share with you a simple 3 step formula to build your list fast even if you have ZERO tech skills.

3 Step Formula to Build an Email List Fast

I remember when I first got started with building my email list in 2011 and told I needed to build a lead capture page.

So I went down the rabbit hole trying to figure out how to create a lead capture page, spending lots of time and money trying to get it right.

Then in 2013 my good friend and mentor Diane Hochman introduced me to her simple 3 step formula to build an email list.

Diane is a single mom of 2 who started using email marketing in 2001 as a way to leverage her time to grow her business. 

Did I also mention she is not tech savvy?

She went from $42,000 in debt to enrolling over 103 people into her business in one weekend using this formula.

Step #1: Get an Autoresponder

The first step to build an email list is to invest in an autoresponder.

An autoresponder is a service which stores your lead's contact information, mainly their email addresses.

The autoresponder also allows you to upload emails and send them out to everyone on your list. You just tell them when to send it.

This is a HUGE time saver.

There are 3 main autoresponder services out there - Aweber, Get Response, and Mail Chimp.

I use Aweber because it's the industry standard and integrates with almost every lead capture page software.

Step #2: Invite People to Your Email List

Step #2 to build an email list is to invite people to your email list.

Diane taught me to prospect to my list versus prospecting my product, service, and/or business opportunity.

Most people will say "YES" to joining an email newsletter versus committing to taking a look at your product or business opportunity.

Understand that 90% of people you prospect will say "NO" on the first exposure. 

90% of sales are made between the 5th-12th follow up.

When people say "YES" to joining your email list, they are giving you PERMISSION to follow up with them via email.

Here is a simple script you can use. We'll use a health and wellness as an example.

"I have a great newsletter where I share valuable tips on how to lose weight without sugar crashes or feeling hungry. With your permission may I add you to my list? If not, no big deal."

If they say "YES", you can say "Great, what's your best email address?"

If they say "NO", you say "Hey no problem. Curious, do you know of anyone who wants to lose weight?"

Step #3: Manually Add Them to Your Autoresponder

The third step is to manually add people to your email list.

You can do this one of two ways.

First, if you're using Aweber, they have an app that you can download (available on both Android and Mac) and you can manually add the person's email to your list.

You can also log into your back office into your Aweber account.

Prospect to Your Email List Daily

Now, make a plan for the next 90 days to go out an add people to your email list daily.

Imagine if you went out and added 2 people to your list. In 90 days you'll have 180 people to talk to about your business!

Even better, what if you prospected 10 people every day, in 90 days you'll have 900 people.

Remember my mentor Diane?

Since 2001 she made a goal to meet 10 new people per day and add them to her email list.

She then followed up with her email list consistently, sharing tips and strategies.

Her list loved her, and 10 years later, wrote a couple of emails in a weekend and wound up enrolling 103 people into her business.

That's what happens when you prospect to your list and nurture your list.
