Not all website traffic is created equal.
There are three distinct types of traffic that you will encounter as you grow your online business.
Each type of website traffic requires a different communication style in order to close the sale.
We'll break down each of these below.
If you're struggling with converting leads into sales this will help you.
3 Types of Website Traffic
One book I highly recommend that you pick up is Russell Brunson's DotCom Secrets.
In this book he outlines 7 phases of a funnel, and he spends the most time on what he calls the "Pre-Frame"
According to Russell, the pre-frame is "simply the state you place someone in as they enter the next step in your sales funnel."
A good pre-frame makes people say "YES" to the next step.
With that said, Russell says we need to take the temperature of the type of website traffic.
Is your web traffic cold, warm, or hot?
Website Traffic: Cold
Cold traffic are people who don't know who you are and what you're about.
They know they have a problem, but they are not aware of any solutions.
When you communicate with cold traffic, avoid using specific terminology such as "ground floor", "compensation plan", "2 x 3 matrix", or any other terminology that is specific to your niche.
This website traffic takes longer to convert because you have to do more education through your lead magnet and emails.
In your lead magnet you'll need to explain the unfamiliar terms and how they relate to their problem and your solution.
You will need to have a consistent follow-up strategy.
Personally, I like using email and sending them daily to move my cold traffic to warm.
Website Traffic: Warm
Warm traffic are people who know something about you and have a clearly defined problem.
What separates warm traffic from cold traffic is they are aware of other potential solutions to their problem.
Warm traffic know the terminology of the niche.
For example, if you're targeting other network marketers, they would be familiar with terms "ground floor", "compensation plan", and "autoship".
They are already subscribers, fans, and followers of other leaders in your market.
All you need to do is make them aware of your solutions.
In your follow-up emails you'll share valuable content from some of the leaders in your niche and how those takeaways can point them to your product helping them solve their problem.
DISCLAIMER: This doesn't mean. you go spamming FB groups with your product links.
Website Traffic: HOT
Hot website traffic is the best type of traffic.
These people know who you are and the products you promote.
They typically are your followers on social media, subscribed to your email list, and have purchased from you.
Because they know, like, and trust you, you communicate to them like family (because they are).
That means you can keep your communication short and sweet.
Your hot website traffic will do what you say because they know, like and trust you.
This is why you want to separate your hot traffic from warm and cold by putting them in a separate email list or private FB group.
Final Thoughts
Knowing the temperature of your website traffic before you start marketing saves you time and money in the long run.
It's really important that you know who your audience is before you get started.
Get clear on the terminology they use to describe their problem.
That way you can bypass cold traffic and go right to warm.
